Ulyanovsk authorities introduced on Wednesday a state of emergency in ten rural areas because of the drought, reported EMERCOM Russia Ulyanovsk region.
"In order to overcome the challenge of food security of the Ulyanovsk region, the loss and damage of crops due to drought … in Baryshsky, Karsunskogo, Sengileevsky, Pavlovsky Melekessky, Staromaynskogo, Sura Ulyanovsk, Tsilninskogo Cherdaklinsky areas and a regime of emergency" — said in a statement.
According to the decree of the Government of the Ulyanovsk region emergency mode is entered before October 1.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the region together with the CSF (a government commission on the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and fire safety) is mandated to develop and submit an action plan to reduce the impact of emergencies.
