Earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred in the south-east Iran

 Earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred on Monday in south-eastern Iran, the website of the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of tremors recorded in 07.33 local time (07.03 MSK), is located 100 kilometers from the city of Bam in Kerman province. Hearth lies at a depth of 18 kilometers. No casualties or damage were reported.

At the beginning of August in East Azerbaijan Province in north-western Iran, a devastating earthquake measuring 6.5. Villages were destroyed in the city of Tabriz, killing more than 300 people and injured thousands.

Iran is among the ten most earthquake-prone regions of the world. In December 2003, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake victims in Bam were more than 31 thousand people, about 42 thousand were injured. The city itself, as well as the famous fortress Arg-e Bam was almost completely destroyed.
