Ural scientists have grown potatoes, like beets

23.08.2012

Scientists from the Ural Institute of Agriculture brought a new kind of potato, which has a rather strange appearance, but contain high amounts of nutrients.

As told by Elena Shanina development, the new variety of potato, which is called "Chudesnik", a very high content of antioxidants, three times more vitamin C and almost no starch, resulting in blue or beet pulp. "All of this makes the potatoes dietary product" — sums up Helen Shanin.

After a couple of years of such potatoes will hit — now the seeds "Chudesnika" sent to Tyumen to the largest agricultural firm Urals "Krimm," which set a new brand for accelerated growth.

It is worth noting that on breeding varieties that employs only two people: the very head of the department of the Ural Institute of Agriculture Elena Shanina and researcher Elizabeth Klyukina.
