Yaroslavl authorities opened the hunt for rabid foxes

Yaroslavl Regional Department for the protection and use of wildlife rangers commissioned shoot foxes, patients with rabies.

There has been an increase in outbreaks of rabies — the first quarter of 2011 revealed 24 cases, while for the whole of 2010 there were 10 cases less.

According to Deputy Director of Department — Head of the reproduction and use of wildlife department Victor Shabanov, such measures will be taken in hunting Gavrilov Yamskaya Nekrasovskaya Pereslavsky, Rostov and Yaroslavl municipal areas.

"Our goal — to produce the primary shooting foxes and raccoon dogs with severe signs of the disease, that is, if they appear in the settlements, not afraid of man, tend to attack people and pets. Regional Officer of Rosselkhoznadzor told RIA Novosti that if last year was found in 14 cases of rabies in animals, then in the first quarter of 2011 has revealed 24 cases.
