Gomel social activists on behalf of the voters ordered two meetings on December 10 in DC "festival" and on December 12 in the Training Center of the Gomel regional association of trade unions. They're going to campaign against presidential candidate Alexander Lukashenko.
Regional coordinator of the campaign "For Fair Elections" Vladimir Katsora told reporters that according to Article 45 of the Code, not only the presidential candidates or their agents shall have the right to campaign, but also ordinary citizens. They also have the right to to campaign for or against or other the candidate to discuss the political, business and personal qualities nominee for the presidency.
Activists have reminded district commissions — respectively the Soviet and Central — the need to implement the electoral legislation in terms of informing voters about the date, time and place of election meetings, which will be discussed in political and professional qualities of Alexander Lukashenko, who is running for a fourth term.
Such meetings in the region in the current presidential campaign has ever had. In 2008 during the parliamentary elections Gomel activists intend to campaign against candidates from the government, but the county commission is not allowed to do.
