Regime declared emergency in eastern Kazakhstan due to unprecedented snowfall

Over the last few days in the East Kazakhstan region snow fell, half as much annual rate in the region declared a disaster mode, reported in Wednesday's press-service information center in the region.

"In the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk (the administrative center of the East Kazakhstan region) declared a state of emergency, utilities switched to non-stop operation, the regional leadership encourages all regardless of ownership to assist in cleaning and snow removal. Moreover, as predicted by weather forecasters, two days later, again expected snowfall, "- said in a statement.

Akim (Governor) of Berdibek Saparbayev said that if two days out of the city did not take out the fresh snow, "the situation could become critical."
