Forum Arctic: the present and the future will work in St. Petersburg

 International Forum "The Arctic: The Present and Future" will be opened in St. Petersburg, and its main task — to find and offer solutions for integrated development of the Arctic zone of Russia, according to the organizers.

The forum is supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, under the auspices of the Association of Russian Polar Explorers, led by Artur Chilingarov. Under his chairmanship on December 6 in the northern capital to host meeting of the Association of polar explorers (ASPOL) where leading scientists and researchers at both poles of the Earth will discuss prospects for the development of polar science and exploration of the North.

The Forum will include plenary sessions with representatives from Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Regional Development, the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, RTN, the Federal Space Agency.

Experts gathered in St. Petersburg to discuss the problems of economic development of the Arctic areas, the environmental aspects of hydrocarbon offshore operation features of the Northern Sea Route as a national thoroughfare Russia, problems of navigation and map support for navigators in the Arctic Ocean.

Also at the forum will be an annual international tournament ARCTIC CUP Ice Hockey Amateur adult and junior teams of the Arctic Council. At the Hermitage Theatre will be a ceremony of awarding the winners of the international literary award "North Star", created in conjunction with the Union of Writers of Russia, and the winners of the International Film Festival "Sport movies — children."

Forum "The Arctic: The Present and the Future" takes place from 5 to 9 December and was a continuation of the conference "The Arctic — Territory of friendship and cooperation," which took place in 2011.
