Earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred in Tajikistan on Thursday morning, told RIA Novosti on the Dushanbe seismic station.

"The epicenter of tremors was located in 435 kilometers southeast of Dushanbe, about 20 kilometers from the Murghab district on the border with China," — said the source.

According to the station, the earthquake was felt at 06.07 local time (07.05 MSK).

Information on casualties and damage were reported.

According to the Defense Ministry, these earthquakes have not affected the combat readiness of units 201 military bases and other military facilities of the Russian armed forces stationed in the country.

"Forces on duty serving in the normal mode, other soldiers perform tasks as intended, damage combat control systems and communications were noted. Earthquake victims there," — said in a release from the military.

Russian military base in Tajikistan is the largest land base outside Russia, which are about 7000 soldiers. It is an important element in the overall system security of the Central Asian region. HRD was founded in 2004 on the basis of the 201st motorized rifle division stationed in Tajikistan. The base is stationed in three garrisons in Dushanbe, Kurgan-Tube and Kulob.
