National Bank of Belarus has stopped selling currency to banks to exchange points


The National Bank of Belarus sent a letter to commercial banks, which reported that the sale of National Bank currency to commercial banks stopped, said the agency "Interfax-West" Head of the National Bank Anatoly Drozdov.

"Yes, such a letter was sent to the banks," — said Alexander Drozdov, commenting on the information that appeared in the banking community, the suspension of sales of foreign currency to banks to support the currency exchange.

As reported, March 16, NBB banks sold foreign currency exchangers to support in excess of the actual sale of foreign currency to individuals worth buying them. This procedure was introduced in parallel with the increase of this date deadlines reservation of funds for the purchase of foreign currency at the exchange from 1 to 30 days after a number of other restrictive measures.

NBB, thus, offers commercial banks themselves that the domestic demand for foreign currency in all segments of the de facto abandoning the currency interventions in the face of declining foreign reserves by 20% in January-February.
