The male snow leopard was caught in camera traps in the Sayano-Shushenskoye reserve

 Environmentalists managed to get pictures of the new Red Book male snow leopard in the national park "Sayano-Shushenskaya" (Krasnoyarsk Territory, Western Sayan), said Park on Friday.

Russia's largest grouping of a Red Snow Leopard (males, females and kittens) lives in the Sayano-Shushenskoye reserve, where during the rut (February-March), the number of predators up to 12 individuals. To "permanent" basis inhabit the reserve about nine animals for each of them wound up with an individual certificate of identification characteristics of the beast.

"Still more recently obtained by camera traps installed in the Sayano-Shushenskaya Reserve. It captures ounce. Specifically this male previously recorded in the area," — said in a statement.

Now the reserve is held the next stage of research and development within the framework of the Russian Geographical Society "Wild Cats of South Siberia" to study the snow leopard, lynx, and Pallas, which is also implemented in the territory of the Federal Reserve "coveted" in Khakassia.

Snow leopard (ounce) is an endangered species. The Red Data Book of the Russian Federation and was awarded the first category — "look, which is under threat of extinction at the limit of the range." The total number of snow leopards in Russia, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Russia, is no more than 80-100 individuals, most of whom are concentrated in five key groups in the south of the Krasnoyarsk region, Tuva and Altai Mountains. In the Altai Mountains, according to WWF Russia, there are about 30 of these predators.
