First Transbaikalia shelter for homeless animals opens in 2013

Governor of Transbaikalia commissioned during 2013 in Chita open the region's first shelter for homeless animals, especially dogs, the institution will not only accept animals, but also to provide services on their training, sale, euthanasia and cremation, told RIA Novosti on Thursday, a representative administration of the head region.

"Despite the fact that the problem of homeless animals — is the authority of the municipality, the Governor Ravil Geniatulin promised to help in this matter. Today (Thursday), he met with members of the initiative group for the construction of the shelter, which was attended by representatives of the Government and the Mayor of Chita region . Following the meeting instructed to resolve the issue with the opening of the institution in 2013 — said.

According to him, the final decision on the place where it will open a shelter, is still pending.

"Geniatulin instructed to study the experience of other regions in this area and to take into account in the design of the existing shelter developments in Russia. Probably, the object will be contained in the co-financing from the regional budget and the budget of the city of Chita. Head of the region also emphasized the fact that the shelter should be located in the city, but on the outskirts, not in the center ", — said the representative of the administration.
