MOE has warned of possible avalanches in Kolyma

Rescuers Kolyma on Friday warned the authorities and local residents about possible avalanches in the region, told RIA Novosti press officer GUMCHS Russia's Magadan region.

"Avalanche situation in the Magadan region arose from the cyclone, which has brought a dramatic warming of the Kolyma. Friday and Saturday around Hasynskogo Omsukchan and Magadan regions can come off the snow masses. Especially high risk in some parts of the mountain slopes," — said the source agency.

According to him, the Emergencies Ministry recommended that motorists not to leave on Friday and Saturday outside the settlements.

"The air temperature in the area has risen to Hasynskom 8-13 degrees, while more recently there were up to 40 below zero. Situation is complicated by a strong wind gust to 17 meters per second," — said the source.

According to RIA Novosti Head of weather forecasts Kolyma management hydrometeoservice Vera Zavadko, cyclone formed in the Sea of Okhotsk. He brought to the Kolyma dramatic warming.

"The cyclone will operate on the Kolyma, in about three days. In Magadan and the coast is much warmer. If a few days ago was cold 25 degrees, now — minus 8. In the coming days the temperature will continue to rise," — said the interviewee.
