One million-plus cities in Russia will be more!

The population of Krasnoyarsk overcome the mark of 1 million people in April of this year, according to a forecast published on Wednesday Regional Department of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Krasnoyarsk Territory (Krasstat).

According to statistics, up to three million foreign capital region lacks only two thousand citizens.

On January 1, 2012 in Krasnoyarsk, there were 998,000 inhabitants. According to estimates, the population of the regional center in April 2012, will step over a million — said in a statement Krasstata. 

 

It also states that, according to the Russian census in 2010 (on October 14), lived in Krasnoyarsk 975,000 people. The increase in population of 23,000 people at the beginning of this year was due to migration and natural increase (by 87.6% due to migration and growth of 12.4% due to natural increase).

In late February, the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Lev Kuznetsov, at a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the Krasnoyarsk "working" in order to become a city of over one million people, and expressed the hope that this will happen in 2012.
