Seismic activity of a volcano in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky — Avachinsky, located 25 kilometers from the regional center, has increased, according to RIA Novosti Senior Fellow, Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Alexey Ozerov.

"In the last two days, there is a growing increase in the number of earthquakes in the edifice of the volcano. Their number was 17 and 21", — said Ozerov.

According to the scientist, the increase in seismic activity in the very construction of the giant of the destruction of evidence or "plug" of the lava, or of "tearing out fresh magma."

The scientist does not rule out that additional stimulus to increased activity of the volcano Avachinsky served seismic events in the Japanese archipelago. "Earthquakes can trigger activity of the volcano, but the system needs to" ripen "myself" — said Ozerov.

To get an accurate forecast of future development, he said, should be more closely the giant — the installation of additional seismic stations, as well as to monitor the situation from the air and on the surface of the volcano Avachinsky. In the near future in the area of the giant plans to start a group of volcanologists. Their task, in particular, includes analysis of the cracks on the slopes Avachinsky formed after its last eruption in 1994.
