An earthquake measuring 6.9 (8) occurred in northern India

NEW DELHI, Sept. 18 — RIA Novosti, Evgeny Pakhomov. Earthquake of magnitude 6.9 occurred on Sunday in northern India, television channel NDTV.

According to RIA Novosti, the tremors were felt in the capital, New Delhi, where many people came out of their homes, fearing aftershocks could happen again.

According to NDTV, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Sikkim — the north-eastern state of India, located in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Tremors were also felt in Kolkata, Guwahati, Lucknow and other cities of India.

No casualties or destruction have been reported yet.
