Smoking and skin

Our largest organ — the skin, though, and is on the outside, the power gets through the blood vessels inside the body. The food we consume is broken down to the smallest components, some of which are nutrients, and some — Ballast, "industrial waste." All this is delivered through the blood to the skin. Nutrients used in place as part of the "waste" and then output to the outside. Same skin receives andoxygen— During normal breathing. But when the light comes in tobacco smoke, breathing process and nourish the skin is broken.

When we inhale cigarette smoke, carbon monoxide (carbon monoxide, CO) connected to hemoglobin in carboxyhemoglobin. The affinity of hemoglobin to CO is 200 times higher than that of oxygen, thereby developing hypoxia (hypoxia). The skin is the largest organ, is suffering from a lack of oxygen and direct toxic effects of carbon monoxide in the first place.

But that's not all. Blow falls on the skin of all chemical cocktail which formed by the combustion of tobacco ammonia, hydrocyanic acid, butane, nicotine, carbolic acid, formaldehyde, pyridine, arsenic, cadmium — and that's not even half of the list. The consequences are disastrous — the skin loses its normal appearance, turns yellow, becomes dry and flaky. The more cigarettes a person smokes a day, the worse it looks skin.

In addition to the direct damaging effect, there is indirect mechanism by which smoking causes premature aging of the skin: each cigarette neutralizes the body 35 mg of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which can not be produced within our body and must be supplied from outside. One of the many functions of vitamin C — Protection of collagen, a substance that is responsible for the smoothness and elasticity of the skin. In the absence of ascorbic acid destroyed the collagen, which contributes to the premature formation of wrinkles, especially around the eyes and mouth.

The longer a person smokes, the lower the chance to pay the degenerative processes in the skin and restore its elasticity and healthy color. Regardless of whether or not there is an easy way to quit smoking, throwing cigarette should. Save your skin — give up cigarettes.
