24.03.11.VASHINGTON (Reuters) — Two strong earthquakes with magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale, occurred in Myanmar, said the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on Thursday.
Brunt of the disaster fell on the borders with Thailand and Laos territory. The epicenter of the first quake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, the second — 230 kilometers.
According to the USGS, aftershocks occurred a few seconds after an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 hit points in Thailand. The epicenter of tremor was recorded at 110 kilometers north of Chiang Rai.
