"Places that are attractive for tourists, often carry the potential emergencies. During the summer tourist season are lost every year dozens of people — explains Zakharov. — The possibility of occurrence of landslides, mudslides, landslides or, for example, injuries to the Circum-Baikal railway tunnels, traffic accidents — all increase the risk of being left without the necessary support for a term that is not compatible with life. With the help of well-known of GPS-navigators will not solve existing problems, because they do not have shock-proof or water-resistant characteristics, and even while preserving its functions do not allow a timely manner to locate the person who is in a state of emergency because of the lack of options for feedback. "

According to the developer, the new device has a significant advantage over most competitive analogue — a portable receiver-satellite navigation systems. Among the shortcomings of the present invention Zakharov noted the lack of ergonomic design of the case, made of metal and plastic.

"Our device is able to operate in emergencies, mainly related to the finding under the stone rubble. The case can withstand direct attacks and pressure rock-avalanche protection. From the longitudinal and transverse radial shock device protects the rounded edges of the case, and it is protected from the outside of the glass fiber para-aramid fiber — Kevlar, which is used to create bullet-proof vests. In addition, the device is not afraid of water, is operational in the aquatic environment. The receiver antenna, the vulnerable in the event of an impact, located inside the body, and two batteries, capable of maintaining the device in working condition up to four days, "- said Zakharov.

Compact unit size of 5 x 3,7 cm fitted with a combined GLONASS-GPS receiver that works by using two space-based navigation systems: GLONASS and GALILEO. The combination of these systems greatly expands the coverage area.

"The device works as follows: having composed navigation receiver and antenna, the device sends a signal to satellites, which, after appropriate digital processing provides information on the geographic coordinates and speed of the human facility, equipped with the device. Information about the location of the object, its speed is transferred to specialized Internet — Portals (eg http://www.web-glonass.ru). With this information, a person object caught in an emergency situation, not able to care for yourself help yourself, can easily be found on the signal displayed on the map of the Internet portal "- says Zakharov.

The project is recommended for use in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as travel agencies that conduct sightseeing activities in natural objects.
