Russia has reduced in 2012 the export of unprocessed timber by 15.9% to 17.6 mn m3 stated in the statistics of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Decline in exports was entirely due to a decline of 16.8% of deliveries to foreign countries, exports to the CIS countries, by contrast, grew by 34.9%. Exports of lumber almost unchanged at 11.14 million tonnes.

Exports of newsprint in 2012 to foreign countries decreased by 6.5% to 1.14 million tons, while exports to CIS countries increased by 63.6% to 157.4 thousand tons.

In 2012, plywood exports rose sharply — by 59.0% to 2.45 million m3.
