Two young Ukrainians have become finalists innovation Google

Two Ukrainian scientists have become regional finalists Google Science Fair 2013, reported the Reporter.biz representatives of the world’s largest search engine.

According to the report, Ukrainian scientists fall in the number of 90 regional finalists for the second year in a row. 

This year they were Nikita Gordienko from Kiev in the age group of 13-14 years and Zenovia Schweich from the city in the age group 17-18 years. 

The first project deals with the implementation of an alternative idea of "smart home" with a conventional smartphone and NFC-tags, and the second environmental project aims to create a stand-alone device for saving fish from suffocation under the ice.

"On the third annual competition, we received thousands of entries from more than 120 countries. Before the jury had a difficult task to evaluate creativity, scientific merit and global importance of each project to choose from thousands of works of only 90 finalists" — say at Google.

It should be noted that June 27 will be announced the names of 15 global finalists and winner of the award Science in Action Award. These young scientists will visit the headquarters of Google in California, September 23 to take part in the festive event dedicated to the determination of the winner.
