Zaporizhstal reduced the energy consumption of steel products

In the first half of 2013 "Zaporizhstal" by 6.4% reduced power consumption of manufactured metal products. Energy intensity was 21.8 GJ / t vs. 23.3 GJ / t for the same period in 2012.

At the metallurgical plant "Zaporizhstal" a program of Metinvest Group has implemented the introduction of energy-saving projects and the total control of the flow of raw materials and energy resources at all levels of production. Improvement in energy intensity of steel produced in the 1st half of 2013, due to the introduction of measures to identify energy losses, the development and implementation of energy saving measures — reducing the loss of cold blast when transporting it from the CHP in blast-furnace plant and the optimization of heating conditions in the zones of continuous furnaces, saving electricity by setting the optimal operation of the equipment in rolling mills.

"Our factory implements large-scale investment programs aimed at improving the energy efficiency of production. As a result, in June 2013 in steelmaking reduced consumption of natural gas — 29 cubic meters per tonne of steel produced.
