The Northern Fleet under the command and staff exercise of the WEST increasing grouping of ships in the Arctic

In the Kara Sea today began forming a powerful group of the Northern Fleet (NF). The composition of groups have entered the heavy nuclear missile cruiser "Peter the Great", a large anti-submarine ship "Vice-Admiral Kulakov".

Creating a group of the Northern Fleet in the Arctic is a part of the inter-service command and staff exercise (CPX) forces SF, 1st Command of the Air Force and Air Defense, separate motorized rifle brigade of the Western Military District, (WEST), under the leadership of Commander WEST Colonel General Arkady Bakhina. During the CPX practiced joint action by land, sea and air forces forces (troops) to protect the national interests of Russia in the Arctic, including in the areas of the Northern Sea Route.

In the near future of the group will include a large landing ship "Alexander Otrakovsky" and a large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Chabanenko" rescue tugs "Altai" and the "Pamir" and other support vessels. Only in the Kara Sea at the same time to act for more than 10 warships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet.

The crews of the ships and vessels belonging to the grouping of different forces SF, for a series of exercises for the protection of important objects isolated — research stations, drilling systems, energy facilities, located in the Arctic region. Warships of the Federation Council will also conduct exercises to ensure the safety of navigation in the Arctic regions of the Northern Sea Route. Marines SF, published by BDK "Alexander Otrakovsky" used cells landing on unequipped coast on one of the islands in the Arctic regions.

In the course of working out the episodes CPE in Arctic marine areas will focus on rescue operations and relief of the sea ships and vessels in distress probation. To this end, the Kara Sea will form a detachment of search and rescue support which will include rescue tugs "Altai" and the "Pamir".
