U.S. South under the rule of the fire

June 3, 2013. The strongest in the U.S. drought led to massive fires in California, Colorado and New Mexico.

The temperature in some regions reached the mark of 40 degrees Celsius. Representatives of the U.S. Forest Service argued that such a drought in the region has not seen since the middle of last century.

The rapid spread of the fire to a strong wind. In the Angeles National Forest fire engulfed an area of over 100 square kilometers. The fire has destroyed six homes, injured 15, and continues to threaten hundreds of buildings.

The fire crept north of Los Angeles, a distance of 65 kilometers. About three thousand people were evacuated from the vicinity of the city.
