Finnish Walki Group has invested 3 million euros in packaging production in the Leningrad region.

Finnish Walki Group, specializing in the manufacture of coatings and technical protective packaging materials, has launched its own production at the site of Svetogorsk PPM Internetional Paper.

The investment amounted to about 3 million euros per year is planned to produce up to 8 million tonnes of products. Despite the high level of competition and significant consolidation, packaging market remains very promising sector, significant growth potential, experts say.

Having our own factory in Russia provides an opportunity to bring to the market new products, says Timo Finnstrem, vice president of Walki for paper packaging and logistics. According to him, the next phase of development of its activities in Russia Walki Group is planning to open a sales office in Moscow.

Walki Group specializes in the production of fibrous intelligent multilayer coatings. Production capacity of the group are located in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK and China. Annual net sales of the group is 320 million euros. The company said that the plant will produce Svetogorsk paper packaging, including office paper for the production of International Paper.
