September 17, 2012 the crews of the Air Force embarked on a combat training tasks by providing a comprehensive air support of ground troops in the preparation and carrying out of strategic command and staff exercises "Caucasus-2012".

Crews operational and tactical aviation in the Su-24M and Su-25SM hit the towers and reserves the imaginary enemy, and strategic bombers, Tu-160 produced runs of mission-critical targets of the enemy.

In total, the event involved more than 50 aircraft and helicopters. The rest of the Air Force crews conduct routine work in preparation for the implementation of live firing on the ranges of the Southern Military District.

During the execution of tasks on SKSHU "Caucasus-2012" Air Force crews will work with operational data collection, re-location, tactical air support of ground operations troops landing of personnel, aerial reconnaissance, and the application of air strikes the locations of the imaginary enemy.

In the airspace of the exercise area will involve a strategic, long-range bombers Tu-160, Tu-22M3 bombers and military transport aircraft Il-76.

Directly involved in the air support of military force will provide helicopters Mi-8, Mi-24 and Mi-28N, Sukhoi Su-24, Su-25, MiG-29 and Su-27, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
