CHINA INTERESTED IN COOPERATION WITH RUSSIA TO DEVELOP ENGINE FOR J-20 FIGHTER
In October this year, the Chinese delegation visited the factory «Moscow Machine-Building Production Association» (MMPO), also known as the «Salute», to discuss cooperation in the development of the power plant for the first Chinese stealth fighter J-20, reports the Hong Kong Wen Wei Po edition November 11 .

On the visit of the Chinese delegation was informed online «Salute» on October 31. Delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the CPC Tszilyan Xu (Xu Qilian), accompanied his Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. CEO Vladislav MMPO Masalov highlighted the importance of cooperation between Russia and China in the development of a new engine.

With the permission of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Chinese delegation attended the workshop, the center tests engines, production line and museum association. Back in 2005, China signed an agreement to acquire 100 AL-31F engines for the amount of 100 million U.S. dollars. In that year, it was the largest export contract concluded by the band «Rosoboronexport». In 2006 an agreement was signed between «Salute» and the Chinese company Shenyang Liming Aero-Engine Group Corporation for the production of engines for the Chinese aircraft.

Fighter J-20 does not yet have the motor with the required features. According to many Russian experts, the aircraft will develop a turbofan AL-31FM1 (pictured). The Hong Kong edition reports that the Russian plant through investment in China will ultimately receive the know-how to develop their own high-performance motor.
