Catwalk to curvy

Laura Puddy has the new-season trends all sewn up

When London Fashion Week rolls around, I always watch the shows envisaging how I’d wear whatever’s coming down the catwalk. Some styles I know won’t be great for my figure, but other ensembles catch my eye and I start styling in my head.

So, with the new season almost upon us, it’s time to think about getting sorted with some hot wardrobe updaters. From belted coats and head-to-toe leather, to chic tailoring, winter florals, tartans, checks and scarlet red, the scope is amazing and all can look great on curvy girls. My favourite looks include the leather trenches from the Burberry show and the feminine silhouette as seen at Oscar de la Renta. Fitted jackets and pencil skirts are two must-haves.

Want a more purse-happy way to update your look? Accessorise! Autumn/winter gems include look-at-me jewellery, waist-cinching belts and statement shoes. And why not mix your summer staples with new winter finds? Try adding bite to summer florals with leather, like I’m doing in my picture.

My go-to brands for the season are River Island for amazing accessories and jackets, Marks & Spencer for gorgeous curve-hugging dresses and tailored coats, and Asos for a bunch of on-trend pieces, from embellished jumpers to cool prints. Who says you can’t look forward to winter?
