Treasured memories

Make a Connection Make a connection with the siblings. You don’t need to be a stand-up comedian or a children’s entertainer but keeping the atmosphere light, fun and happy will enable you to make a bond with the children. Be yourself but talk to them, ask questions (silly questions like: «Does your brother snore?» or «Does Alice have a boyfriend?») keep them smiling and interacting with you, laugh and be involved. Relieving poverty among street children in Mombasa

Glad’s House is a British charity working on the ground in Mombasa, Kenya, to improve the lives of the city’s street children. It aims to lift many of the estimated 35,000 street children out of a life of hopeless poverty and give them the chance of a real childhood.

READER FEEDBACK

This hands-on practicality stands him in good stead as he settles into his role as Head of One World International School (OWIS), and life in Singapore with wife Lesley, also a teacher, and their three children. Singapore is a familiar environment to a family that has called Asia home for 15 years. They’ve taught in Indonesia,

MULTI-USE GARDENS

Not many people in this country have the liberty of a huge, sprawling estate with multiple garden rooms, each in a different style with a different purpose. As such we have to compromise on what’s most important to us, whether it be an outdoor dining area, kids’ play area or a lawn for the dog, for example. We all have different priorities and combining some of those priorities may not be as hard as you think

The number one question I am asked as a designer is how to combine a great-looking adult garden with a kid-friendly garden without it
