MEET THE DESIGNERS

We asked each of the design consultants the same three questions:

1) What would you say your design style is?

2) With Saskatoon’s growth over the last 5 years, what would you say is the biggest change you have seen in interior design?

3) Favorite item in the room you designed?

Michelle Rowlett

Interior Design Consultant, Braid Flooring & Window Fashions

1. My personal design style is very classic. However, for my professional design style I like doing all types of designs: modern, contemporary, traditional, country. It really depends on what the client feels comfortable with.

Fighting fire with fire

Taking action With the successful funding of PACT, we decided to find out what they are trying to achieve for artists — and why

In the aftermath of a panel discussion at IlluXCon, Jim Pavelec, Aaron Miller, Todd Lockwood, Randy Gallegos and Mike Sass have created PACT, the Professional Artist/Client Toolkit. It’s a new website designed specifically to encourage transparent working relationships between artists and clients. Disaster mitigation and remodeling.

Jon Vogel, president of the New Outlooks Construction Group Inc., in Robbinsville N.J., experienced the effects of Hurricane Sandy firsthand when he and his partner Anthony Cammallere of T&K Contractors, Freehold, N.J., lost their shore-based showroom to flooding. To add insult to injury, he discovered his showroom was not covered under their existing insurance coverage.

To assist clients as the storm passed, his company sent out emails to his entire database and received calls from over 200 past customers as well as neighbors of existing and past customers who needed assistance with storm cleanup as well as with the reconstruction

DESIGN BOOK

Designer Carey Maloney’s first book is an obsessive, compulsive, brilliantly high-low primer to all the things—furniture, art, objects—that make a house truly personal.

«I HAVE FOUND IN LIFE THAT THE MORE you know, the more you like. When I arrived in New York and started work at Christie’s in the 1980s, I was a son of the Deep South and a lover of dark brown English furniture, Persian Serapi rugs, and Japanese Imari porcelain. Within months of exposure to the vast array of decorative and fine arts that pass through a great auction house, 1 was leaning more to French

Championing Design

Interior design industry veteran Lisa Davis lends her expertise and over two-and-a-half decades of hard-earned skills to top-tier clients looking for that marketing edge.

Lisa Davis walks into the Design Center on Henry Adams Street in San Francisco and the space comes alive. The tall brunette has a charismatic effect on practically everyone that walks in and out. Hugs, air kisses, and shouts of greeting ring out of showrooms as she passes. For Davis, this is home. “I’ve been working here, in essence, since high school,” she relates.

Born in San Francisco, Davis grew up in the leafy East Bay

Ask the expert. Personal vs. Standard meal plans.

Q: Many of my clients ask me for written meal plans. Should I provide standardized or personalized plans?

A: When nutrition professionals tailor meal plans for clients, they take into account food and cultural preferences, health concerns, lifestyle, and ethnic traditions, which usually doesn’t happen with standardized meal plans.

Benefits of Tailored Meal Plans.

This year, the theme for National Nutrition Month, organized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (the Academy), was «Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day,» encouraging personalized healthful eating styles and recognizing that food preferences, lifestyle, cultural and ethnic traditions, and health concerns all impact individual
