Eclipse TD712z MK2

£4895

The War Of The Worlds looks are striking, but also fundamental to how these stunning speakers sound.

We’ve already featured one pair of Eclipse speakers here (the TD508MK3s on p61) but such is our love of the single-minded — and in a number of ways flawed — approach to sound that we just couldn’t help but also include the flagship TD712z MK2s.

Eclipse is on a one-track quest for the impulse signal — a single transient that contains all frequencies but lasts a very short period of time.

The TD712z MK2s are still compromised at both frequency extremes. That

Eclipse TD508 MK3

Eclipse makes a number of speaker models, but it makes only one type of speaker and it’s a speaker with just one driver and a very striking egg design. This is a very single-minded approach, of course, but it’s one that’s arresting both sonically and aesthetically.

A single drive unit can never cover as wide a frequency range as the multiple driver alternatives, but there are a number of plus-points to going down this somewhat unconventional route. Having only one driver means there is no need for a crossover — something that tends to introduce all kinds of distortions

Coming solar eclipse

Coming solar eclipse Facts

May 20, 2012 in some parts of the world, such as the western United States, it will be possible to observe the annular solar eclipse. This eclipse occurs when the Moon is in a position directly in front of the Sun relative to the Earth, covering the entire disk stars except the edges. Previous annular eclipse was observed May 10, 1994, the following will occur October 14, 2023.

Solar eclipse of May 21, 2012 satellite view Electro-L

Russian weather satellite "Electro-L" is located in geostationary orbit at an altitude of 36 kilometers. It has been successfully operating for over two years, and every 30 minutes, takes a picture of the entire disk of the planet Earth with high detail to 1 km per pixel. In the archives I found the satellite images which capture the solar eclipse 20-21 May 2012. I bring to your attention the processed image and the animation of the event.

Partial solar eclipse

Partial solar eclipse Facts

February 21 at noon in the cosmos can be observed the partial solar eclipse, when the new moon passes between the sun and NASA spacecraft. From the Earth to the phenomenon can not be seen. However, NASA's solar dynamics observatory could take a picture of a dim eclipse from geostationary orbit at an altitude of 36,000 km. Moon has closed a small, but fairly bright part of the sun, allowing the spacecraft to calibrate their data and record the eclipse, making pictures and videos more clear.
