London pollution reached record levels

Pollution has reached record levels in London Facts

Beginning in 2008, in the northern part of England and France, there is a concentration of exhaust gases and dust make a record high air pollution.

On March 15, 2012, air pollution in London has exceeded all performance. There are several reasons: during windless weather dusty air flow in combination with the exhaust gases are most obvious in the big cities like New York and Leeds. Windless weather means that the exhaust gases from cars and trucks did not take, mixed

How much can be harmful "greenhouse" gases?

How much can be harmful "greenhouse" gases? It is interesting

Fig. 1. The air is full of gas, each of which triggers global warming in different ways.

In addition to the water vapor in the atmosphere, there are four major gas that can cause the greenhouse effect. This is carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and halocarbons (gases containing fluorine, chlorine and bromine). Each of them can be kept in the air a different period of time from months to thousands of years and have a different impact on the state of the Earth's climate.

The most difficult

Set a new record level of greenhouse gas emissions

Set a new record level of greenhouse gas Facts

According to the statement of experts working together with the World Meteorological Organization, in 2011, set a new record for the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere. Assessing the composition of air, the researchers paid particular attention to the chemical components such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, and found a significant increase in the volume of each of these substances.

You can not argue with the fact that the above gases are released as a result of some natural process, but in the vast majority

How to make more effective geo-engineering?

How to make more effective geo-engineering? It is interesting

Geo-engineering inventions are meant to prevent global warming by reflecting the excess energy of the sun back into the atmosphere. Scientists usually rely on such innovative techniques as spraying aerosols in the Earth's stratosphere, or to create artificial clouds at low altitudes.

Opponents of geoengineering are confident that such an intervention will never have the same effect on different parts of our planet. Moreover, it can lead to unpredictable consequences, so potential targets are not worth such a global risk. To prove that geoengineering is safe and will have

ISS astronauts are helping scientists gain new data on the level of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere

The astronauts aboard the International Space Station had another session of the experiment with a fabulous name "Mermaid."

The experiment was designed and developed at the Space Research Institute (IKI). Russian instrument "Mermaid" (hand-held Spectrum Analyzer component of the atmosphere) was delivered to the station in 2009. Since then, the scientific program with the use of a unique instrument for the study of greenhouse gases periodically carried astronauts during specially scheduled sessions. The recorded spectra, together with a package of service information and contextual images quickly sent to Earth to continue in the SRI to monitor

In Balachna Nizhny Novgorod opened a factory for the production of carbon dioxide

Official opening of the high-tech recycling plant flue gases and dry ice production took place in the city of Nizhny Novgorod region Balahna December 19.

The new plant utilizes flue gases emitted Nizhny Novgorod Power Plant, in the amount of 15 tons per hour, while producing 1.5 tons per hour of liquid carbon dioxide, or more than 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide per month.

Flue gases from the burning of natural gas will be converted into carbon dioxide in solid, liquid and gaseous state. Its scope is very wide — the food industry, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, agriculture, and
