4.9 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Greece

Earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred on Sunday in the Ionian sea off the Greek coast, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at about 50 kilometers to the south of the island of Zakynthos. The earthquake lies at a depth of 10 kilometers. Information of the local authorities about the material damage were reported.

Zakynthos is a part of the Ionian Islands, located in the western and south-western part of Greece. The island's population of over 5000 people.

The epicenter was located at 166 kilometers from the city of Patras and 321 km west of Athens.

Distance from the epicenter of the magnitude of such settlements virtually guarantees the absence of any damage.
