Scientists have found in Kamchatka algae living in boiling water

Siberian genetics during the expedition to the Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka found eight types of microbial communities, among them — dark green filamentous algae that survive at temperatures up to 98 degrees, according to the website of Kronotsky reserve.

Studies of biological systems developing in extreme conditions, for three years took place in springs near the volcano caldera, in the Valley of Geysers and Death Valley. Summing up the results, Genetics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences presented the results of studies of thermophilic microorganisms collected in the summer of 2012.
