Forest conservation extinguished 25 wildfires in Russian Far East

Forest protection specialists for the last day in the Far East extinguished 25 wildfires, said on Thursday the press office of the Forestry Department in the Far Eastern Federal District.

"In the Far Eastern Federal District, for the last day were 58 forest fires: 24 in the Khabarovsk region, 16 in the Amur region, 11 in the Maritime Territory, three in Kamchatka and Sakhalin region, one in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)," — said in a statement .

According to the press service, the forces of forest protection was abolished 25 fires, 11 of which occurred in the preceding days. And 15 forest fires have been contained.

"The area of forest fires, traversed for the last day fire was 1.765 thousand hectares, of which the area covered by forest, 891.5 hectares. The most difficult situation is in the forests of the Khabarovsk Territory, where the fire covered 626 hectares of forest area. All around in fire were involved in 757, 117 vehicles, 17 aircraft, including 11 helicopters, "- noted in a release.

Fire season in the Far East because of the snowless winter came early. The situation is complicated by the careless use of fire in the forest, as well as burns dry grass that suit the locals.
