Forest protection specialists for the last day eliminated the Far East 16 wildfires, said on Saturday the press service of the Department of Forestry in the Far Eastern Federal District.

"In the Far East, there were 66 wildfires. Thirty two — in the Khabarovsk region, 14 — in the Amur region, eight — in Yakutia and Sakhalin, three — in the Kamchatka region — one in the Magadan region. Experts managed to eliminate 16 of them , and another 28 were localized, "- said in a release.

It is noted that, as of Saturday morning in the Far East continue to blaze 22 wildfires. Threats settlements and no economy.

"The area of forest fires, traversed for the last day fire was 2578 hectares. Were used to put out 848 people, 102 pieces of equipment, 16 aircraft, including ten helicopters," — says the statement.
