Plastic Logic has shown flexibility on the posters of electronic ink

Company Plastic Logic introduced a flexible display "electronic ink" with a diagonal of more than a meter (42 inches).

The screen can be used in public places such as a bulletin board — for example, to display important messages in the event of an emergency, according to a press release.

Among the advantages of the screen Plastic Logic said thin (less than three millimeters), low power consumption (screens to "electronic ink" consume energy only when updating pictures) and the ability to display sharp images in bright light.

The screen is not solid, it is made up of sixteen screens with a diagonal of 10.7 inches. Permission is not reported, but Plastic Logic indicates that the pixel pitch (the distance between the centers of two adjacent pixels) on the screen is 0.7 millimeters.

In the creation of the screen, along with Plastic Logic, attended the Japanese company Toppan. The display shows the exhibition RetailTECH, which takes place in Tokyo from 5 to 8 March 2013.

Plastic Logic has developed a technology to produce flexible color and black-and-white screens based on organic thin-film transistors in the first half of the 2000s. Screens to be used in mobile phones and Siemens newsreader QUE proReader, but both projects were not implemented.

In 2011, the Plastic Logic has received an investment from the Russian JSC "RUSNANO". It was assumed that the company will establish edition e-readers with plastic screens for use in schools. However, in 2012, Plastic Logic has decided to entrust the production of the devices to other companies, instead of releasing them on their own.
