The area of forest restoration in Mordovia in 2012 will grow by almost half

Mordovia specialists will work to restore forests in 2012 on the area of 1.471 hectares, which is almost two times more than in 2011, said the Ministry of forestry, hunting and nature of the country.

Among the sites where the 2010 fire burned the forest to be restored 554 hectares.

"In the spring period silvicultural regeneration conducted on the area of 1.271 thousand hectares, including forest areas killed by forest fires in 2010 — 453 hectares", — the report says.

To conduct silvicultural operations annually in forest nursery grown Krasnoslobodsky forest planting in the amount of 10 million seedlings (mainly Scots pine). In the winter of 2011-2012 was harvested about 100 tons of pine cones. In storage is 800 kilograms of seeds.

Previously reported from June to August 2010 in the reserve, located in the district of the republic Temnikov, forest fires have damaged more than 12,000 hectares of forests and other natural objects. Damage from the fire is estimated at a minimum of 383 million rubles.
