Portal National Geografic presented ten of the most fascinating and important discoveries expiring in 2012. Among them — megakrokodil, unprecedented worm, sugar in the cosmos, the Divine particle known as the Higgs boson, a new planet in the solar system, the strange Mayan murals, mysterious temple of the sun and the other tribe.

1 place. Detection of "drama" of the temple of the ancient Maya, lost in the jungles of Guatemala.

2nd place. Ancient Mayan murals. Contrary to rumors that the Indians predicted the end of the world in December 2012, on the walls depict calculations suggesting that life on Earth will last for thousands of years.
