Dense pall of smoke covered the northern Omsk region and haze from forest fires in the north-eastern part of Western Siberia observed throughout the region, told RIA Novosti on Friday, the head of the state environmental watchdog ministry of natural resources and ecology of the region, Anatoly Pogorelov.
"We've got pictures from space of Hydrometeorology, visible to them that mass of fires raging in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk region, as well as movement of atmospheric masses. Accordingly, all the consequences of forest fires and the atmosphere are transferred to Omsk region "- said Pogorelov.
According to him, now the air masses along with the haze has shifted to one side, and the situation is stabilized, but the threat of re-emergence could stay still.
Interviewee noted that in the north and east of Western Siberia — in Khanty-Mansiysk, Tuva, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk region — are the most active fires, however, the field of high pressure windless weather lead to air pollution in the Omsk region . Pogorelov also reported that in the Omsk region or forest fires or fires in landfills with household waste, or any disruptions in production was observed.
