Number of forest fires in Russia over the weekend dropped from 221 to 179 seats, but their area has grown to ten thousand acres, the most complicated fire hazard situation persists in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, according to the FFA.
"As of Monday morning, in Russia there are 179 forest fires in the area of 33.2 thousand hectares (23,000 acres Friday morning — Ed.). Threats settlements and no economy," — said in a statement.
It clarifies the agency, in the Chelyabinsk region are 14 forest fires on the area of 17.5 thousand hectares in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District — 36 fires in the area of 1.6 thousand hectares in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District — 28 fires in the area over thousands of hectares in the Tomsk region — 34 fire on the area 6.8 thousand hectares, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory — 36 fires in the area of 3.8 thousand hectares, in the Magadan region — two fires on the area of 1.2 thousand hectares.
In the near future, as predicted by the Forestry Department, the high, sometimes extreme fire danger is expected in Belgorod, Rostov, Astrakhan, Kurgan and Tomsk regions, Kalmykia, Tuva and Khakassia, Krasnodar and Altai territories in the south of Sverdlovsk, Orenburg and Bashkortostan, Chelyabinsk Kemerovo and Omsk regions, in the west of the Tyumen Oblast and Krasnoyarsk Krai, in the east of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District and the Novosibirsk region, the north-western part of the Khabarovsk Territory.
