Smoke in the surrounding area does not trigger the migration of animals in Khakassia

Smoke Khakassia due to natural fires in the adjacent regions, is not big enough to significantly affect the migration of wild animals, told RIA Novosti on Thursday, a senior fellow of the Nature Reserve "Khakassia" Inna Maymanakova.

Formerly director of the World Wildlife Fund Russia (WWF) Igor Chestin told RIA Novosti that the smoke areas in Siberia because of fires can lead to the fact that wild animals will massively from leaving their habitat and may even approach the settlements.

"Of course, in heavy smoke animals are always away from the fire. But now in Khakassia smoke not so large as to significantly affect the migration of animals," — said Maymanakova.

According to her, the slight haze, which is now observed in Khakassia — a consequence of fires, which are in neighboring regions: Tuva, Krasnoyarsk Territory.

An employee of the reserve but it is possible that under the circumstances may be minor changes in the migration and behavior of animals and birds. "For example, birds of prey, which prevents smoke to hunt from the usual distance," — she said.

Interviewee noted that at the present time on the reserve "Khakassia" no natural fire. According to the Republican State Committee in the woods, on July 26 in Khakassia has one fire in the area of 23 hectares.

"In the near future fires will be eliminated completely. Besides forestry experts to extinguish attracted local residents," — said the representative of the State Committee.

According to the District Department of Forestry, the area of forest fires in Siberia for the past day has increased from 11.8 thousand to 13 thousand hectares, forests burn in Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk region, Tuva and Khakassia.
