Fragment Perugino "The Vision of St. Bernard"

The Vatican released the official rules for determining the visions and personal revelations. Document written in 1978, published on the website of the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith.
Thus, a priest who reported the appearance of any of the saints, it is necessary to conduct a "serious investigation" and be "moral certainty" in the possibility of such an event. Other criteria relate primarily to the personal qualities who said about the vision. It must be psychologically stable, honest and sincerely obey the Church, while it should not have vested interests.

Realizing deserves a post of a vision of confidence, priests should communicate its decision if it is worth it.

Rules were drawn up after the world's media has increased because of the abundance of messages about the phenomena of the saints.

As noted in the blog Catholic Light, in 1978 the rules were sent to the bishops under the heading «sub secreto», prohibiting their publication. Since 1994, managed to get a copy of the various European researchers. In late 2011, Cardinal William Levada (William Levada) wrote an introduction to the rules, after which the Vatican has decided to officially publish them.

One of the most well-known reports of apparitions of the Virgin Mary is the story of the Bosnian town of Medjugorje. Since 1981, local residents regularly report such visions, which, however, is not recognized either the Catholic or Orthodox churches. In 2009, Pope XVI RimskiyBenedikt deprived Tomislav Vlassitch holy orders, the spiritual mentor of local visionaries. Vlassitch accused of mysticism and manipulation, as well as the fact that he had a son nun.
