In Paris, at a meeting of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Thursday held an intermediate discussion of the report on the situation in Belarus, the rapporteur of PACE Synikayu Hurskainen.

The debate unfolded as between the representatives of Belarus, who presented the polar perspective the situation in the country and among the deputies of the PACE. The catalyst for discussion was the leader of the Russian Communist Gennady Zyuganov, describing Belarus as a country that has made a stunning breakthrough in the democratization. Salary objected parliamentarians from Western Europe, claiming that the processes in Belarus still do not meet the standards of the Council of Europe.
Today's discussion topic Belarus in Paris did not provide for the adoption of the final document.

Thus there is a difference in the approaches of how Belarus has to enter the Council of Europe: Does Parliament to encourage the current regime, does still require real and irreversible changes in the field of democracy and Human Rights .
