"The earthquake registered magnitude 7.2 at 12:22 Sakhalin time (5.22 MSK), a second quake of magnitude 6.6 was recorded after 11 minutes in the same area. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (Honolulu) declared a tsunami alert for the islands in the South Pacific, the next to the epicenter. Elsewhere, which washes the Pacific Ocean, the tsunami alarm has not yet been announced, "- said Ivelskaya.

According to her, in the case of formation of tsunami traces of it can reach the Kuril Islands after 9-10 hours after the quake.
