Number of forest fires in Russia last weekend dropped from eight to five spots — the most difficult situation persists in the Kamchatka region, according to the Federal Forestry Agency (FFA).
"As of Monday morning in Russia on forest lands are five forest fires in the area of 181 hectare: in Kamchatka — one fire in an area of 150 acres, in the Amur region — one fire in an area of 25 hectares, in the Trans-Baikal region — two fire area of five hectares, in the Republic of Buryatia — one fire on the area of 0.3 hectares, "- said in a statement.
According to the summary of the forest department, for the past twenty nine fires were extinguished, and the fire had covered 108 hectares, including 88 hectares of forest area. For fire fighting involved 120 people, 20 units of fire equipment, ten aircraft.
As predicted by the agency, in the next few days in some areas are expected to increase fire danger.
"High, places extreme fire danger is expected on October 9-11 in the north of the Krasnodar Territory, Astrakhan and Rostov regions, the Republic of Kalmykia, southern republics of Buryatia and Tuva" — note in the FFA.
