4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in northern Italy, no casualties

ROME, July 18 — RIA Novosti, Sergei Elders.Earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred on Sunday night in the north of Italy, representatives of the National Civil Defence.

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the area between Mantua, Rovigo and Ferrara at a depth of 15 kilometers from the Earth's surface.

Residents of many towns and villages in the northern regions Lombradii, Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Trentino-Alto Adige in ten minutes felt four strong aftershocks.

According to witnesses, many people in fear from their homes after the first tremor. Thousands of phone calls concerned citizens, who asked to clarify the situation, immediately went to the local branch of the fire service and civil defense.

The earthquake was for a time suspended trains between Bologna and Verona, but it soon resumed.

According to the Civil Defense, the victims and no serious damage was fixed.
