Most orthodox temple in Western Europe and Scandinavia — Cathedral of the Assumption was built in the XIX century, during the reign of Alexander II. First paper on the cathedral dated 1857. Drawing up of a construction project and the construction of the temple took 11 years. The festive consecration took place on 13 October 1868 by Paul Bishop of Vyborg. Temple consecrated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin and proclaimed the Assumption Cathedral.
