New radar (radar) "Voronezh" in the Irkutsk region to the rest of the year will join the combat strength of the Russian system of missile warning (EWS), a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry troops Aerospace Defense Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin.

The station will be the fourth in a row next generation radar, introduced in the Russian early warning system. Three radar station "Voronezh" has already been put into operation in Lekhtusi (Leningrad region), Armavir (Krasnodar territory) and Pioneer (Kaliningrad region).
New radar "Voronezh" is much different from the previous generation stations "Dnepr" and "DTV". To intercede at the end of 2011 at the experimental combat duty station near Kaliningrad has a range of 6,000 kilometers and can simultaneously control the order of 500 objects. In this case, the possibility of enacting the radar system are constantly increasing.
Russian Defense Ministry intends to replace in the state armaments program to 2020, all Soviet long-range radar missile launch detection.
