State of emergency declared in Paraguay due to Hurricane

The state of emergency on Thursday introduced throughout Paraguay in connection with a powerful hurricane struck the country, according to the channel Telesur.

The corresponding decision was made at a special meeting MPs South American country. The state of emergency will be in effect for the next 90 days.

Ministry of Emergency Situations allocated additional funds in the amount of about two and a half million dollars to take preventive measures in case of recurrence of the disaster.

Strong wind gusts reaching 100 kilometers per hour, hit last Wednesday on various parts of Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay. It is now known about the five dead in Paraguay, about 80 people were injured, destroyed about five thousand buildings.

In the capital, Asunción, wind gusts up to 140 kilometers per hour, which led to numerous open wires and power lines.
