KIEV, February 18. At the end of 2012 the Ukrainian population was 45,550,000 people, or 80,600 fewer than a year earlier, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The population of cities in Ukraine remained almost unchanged — downsizing had on the rural population, which for the year amounted to 14 million 174.4 thousand people. Only in the last year were born in Ukraine 520.7 thousand, 663.1 thousand people died, the natural population loss was 142.4 thousand. At the same time, last year, net migration was recorded in the amount of 61.8 thousand people: the Ukraine entered 76,4 thousand people left the country 14.5 thousand people

For the year 2012 increased the population in 11 of the 27 regions of Ukraine. At the same time, the natural increase in the past year was only six regions (Volyn, Rivne, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi regions and in Kyiv), a positive growth in the rest was due to a positive migration processes, reports Forbes-Ukraine.

The record for the population decline of the population, still, is Chernihiv region — 10.7 thousand, or 9.2% of natural attrition. Maximum natural increase recorded in the Rivne and Transcarpathian regions (3.5% and 3.3%, respectively), in absolute terms — in Kiev (6 thousand, or 2.2%). Given the migration of the population of the Ukrainian capital for the year increased by 30.8 thousand people.

As reported in September last in 2012 the population of Ukraine has increased for the first time in 19 years. The total gain for the month amounted to only 177 people and is based immigration rate in 4237 people, but before that since 1993 the number of Ukrainians decreased from month to month.
